Every summer, students from across America and other nations commit several weeks to serve the Lord in other cultures.  They come back home … changed.

They go to places like Ghana, Ecuador, UK and Romania to bring the love of Jesus through media, healthcare and community development.

In this episode, you’ll meet one of the students, as well as missionaries who lead these internships.  You’ll hear stories of what God has done and how he has used students as the voice and hands of Jesus.

He lives to tell others about Jesus.  He has done it in every nation in a very unique way.  His name is Arthur Blessitt and you may know him as the man who has carried a large wooden cross around the world.

He started his journey during the Jesus movement in the 60’s in California and since then has walked over 41,000 miles with that wooden cross on his shoulder. On every “crosswalk,” Arthur has had the chance to share the gospel message.  He has spoken with people from just about every religion and every walk of life.

In this episode, you’ll hear first-hand how God has used Arthur in some of the most unusual places and the Lord has shown favor on his journeys.  You’ll also find out how he is continuing his ministry today with more impact than ever.  He still does crosswalks, but in a whole different way.

It’s not business as usual lately.  Christ-followers are taking on the challenge of the Great Commission. But hasn’t that been the mission of the Church for 2,000 years?   Yes.  However, these days, there’s a growing, different approach in the works.  Rather than the Western Church doing it on her own, she’s partnering with the indigenous Church to reach the unreached for Jesus.

Meet Steve Harling, the brand new President of Reach Beyond.  He has a passion to mobilize the Church to take Jesus to places that have never heard the name of our Savior.  Hear his passion and heart in this episode of the Reach Beyond Podcast.

Outgoing President Wayne Pederson interviews Steve in Steve’s first public appearance since he took the reins of the Reach Beyond presidency September 1.  Some leadership transitions can be messy.  You’ll be encouraged hearing these two men together and sense the healthy transition at Reach Beyond.

Steve is a long-time pastor, serving at churches in New York, California and Colorado. The son and grandson of missionaries and he also served as a missionary with SIM and as a pastor in Sudan. He has more than 25 years of mission board experience with SIM, Wycliffe Bible Translators, Global Refuge and Bethany Home.

What exactly is Steve Harling’s vision?  Hear it first-hand in this episode.

There are seasons in our lives where it is simply a “dangerous place to be."  One of those seasons seems to be when we hit age 40.  In this episode, join us for a candid discussion with Peter Greer, co-author of the book 40/40 Vision: Clarifying Your Mission in Midlife.

Midlife is a disruptive season where we collide with limitations on all sides.  We recognize there is more to life in the rear view mirror than the road ahead of us. We wonder if our lives so far have been worthwhile.  But midlife is also an opportunity to recalibrate our vision.

Peter tells his own story of hitting 40 and how he dealt with this milestone.  He gives us counsel on how we can avoid common pitfalls at this stage and make our lives count in a new way with Christ’s eternal perspective.

Peter has a heart to take the gospel to the world, and you’ll catch his excitement and vision in this dialogue.  WARNING:  It may rub off on you.

In this episode, you’ll also be able to download a simple one-sheet that will help you stay on the course God has for you.

Last month, a small team of believers went deep into Nepal on a critical mission.  Two of those team members will tell their stories on this episode of the Reach Beyond Podcast.

Ty Stakes and Ron With spent a week in the rain and mud to begin restoration work in a Nepali village shattered by last year’s earthquake.  Just 15 miles from the epicenter, homes were leveled, buildings were badly damaged and the local Christian-run radio station became unusable.

Listen as Ty and Ron tell you how their team performed the first rebuilding effort, laying the cement foundation for the new radio station building.  You’ll hear how God has been moving to turn resistance to an openness to the gospel.  Even to the point that a church now exists in that village.

Ty Stakes is the Executive Director of Reach Beyond’s Asia Pacific Region and Ron With serves as Reach Beyond’s Information Technology Manager.

In this episode, you’ll hear stories from the jungle.  You’ll find out first-hand how God led Miriam into missions work in 1979 and why she has stayed ever since.  You’ll get a glimpse into how she is bringing Jesus to Latin Americans through the open door of healthcare.

Imagine this scene:

American medical doctor Dilip Joseph and two colleagues are driving back to Kabul, Afghanistan, after serving villagers that morning at a rural clinic.  Suddenly a man waving an AK-47 blocks their path.  More armed men jump out of hiding.  For Dilip, it is the beginning of a nightmare—he’s being kidnapped by the Taliban.

Our guest on this episode is Dr. Dilip Joseph, and he shares the details of his story, from that moment on the road to his harrowing rescue a few days later by Navy SEAL Team Six.  It’s what happened in between that changed his life forever.

God used this experience to renew within Dilip a passion for the unreached, and open his eyes to those who are blind to Jesus and living a life of violence and hopelessness.  How did God use Dilip in the lives of his Muslim captors?  He brings us into his story and shares the answer to that question.

You’ll also hear how to win a copy of Dilip’s book, Kidnapped by the Taliban.

There’s a country in West Africa called Sierra Leone.  This is a nation hit by trauma.  More than 50,000 people were killed in the nation’s brutal decade-long civil war that ended in 2002.  Hardly recovering from that, Ebola invaded Sierra Leone in 2014-15.  It paralyzed the nation.

In the midst of this, there is a Christian radio station that is providing hope in Jesus Christ, Believers Broadcasting Network (BBN).  Not only on the air, but through a dynamic counseling ministry that has helped thousands of people deal with PTSD caused by the war and Ebola.

On this episode, you’ll hear the inside story of hope from two volunteers who just returned from Sierra Leone.  They worked side by side with BBN to train counselors who will come to the rescue of a hurting people.  In Jesus’ name.

Listen as Kenny and Lauri Dennis share their experience with us.

Update on the earthquake in Ecuador

“For the love of Christ compels us…”

Paul wrote those words in 2 Corinthians 5:14 and they are as important today as they were in his culture.  Once we experience the depth of Christ’s love in our own life, it will launch us into magnificent things for the Kingdom of God.  It will transform us.

In this episode, we visit with Yemi Mobolade, an entrepreneur, pastor and musician who has discovered the richness of Christ’s love and takes this love to people around him.  His unique business is really his ministry and you’ll hear stories of how God has used him in his city.

You’ll also hear how you can have free and immediate access to a new video series called BOLD.  Yemi is featured in this series, which helps believers understand, experience and share the love of God with others.

BOLD is unlike what you have seen before.  It’s all about guilt-free witnessing, and you’ll hear testimonies from people from around the world an in all walks of life who have experienced that.

BOLD is also about dialogue and discussion in a small group setting, or for study on your own.  The series comes with the videos and workbooks, all downloadable from the BOLD site.  Reach Beyond is making this series available to you as our gift.

One of the most innovative tools for the work of the gospel today is a device called the SonSet Radio. It’s a solar-powered hand-held radio, fixed-tuned to the local Christian station. In most cases, it is the only Christian media voice in the community. More than 50,000 of these missionary tools have been distributed around the world in some of the most remote places.

As a result, hundreds of thousands of people are hearing the Good News for the first time, and lives are being transformed by Jesus Christ. In this episode, you’ll hear stories from across the globe as multiple guests bring their personal experiences to the microphone.

You’ll be encouraged by the SonSet Effect and the effort to send 5,000 SonSet Radios to the Asia Pacific region this year, proclaiming Jesus in Indonesia, Thailand, Mongolia and Nepal. God has used Reach Beyond to plant dozens of stations in these countries and SonSet Radios will grow the gospel impact of the stations.

From an African jungle to an indigenous gospel radio station, this episode takes you on location for the first time. Jon Fugler recently traveled to Ghana, West Africa, and recorded some rare experiences.

You’ll journey with Jon to a radio station that Reach Beyond helped establish and is run totally by local believers. Hear from one of the DJs who explains his role in bringing the gospel to the area.

Then step into an African village that has been transformed by the construction of a clean water well. You’ll hear an exclusive interview with Ben, a Ghanaian believer who has been discipling the village leaders for several years. Clean water and the Living Water have brought new life to people there.

Then experience a walk to the dirty, contaminated pond where these same villagers used to get their water. You’ll walk the path the women and children used to walk every day.

"With more than 2 billion people who haven't had a chance to meet Jesus, it's time for the body of Christ to take a radical stand and say 'this has to end in our generation.' Would you join me in committing to pray, give, go and advocate for those who need to know Christ by participating in the International Day for the Unreached? The time is now." -Rick Warren

You may have heard the figure. Over 2 billion people have never heard the name of Jesus. But did you know that Christianity is the fastest growing religion in the world? These two facts are highly contrasted, but they are true.

Believers are coming alive to this issue, and headway is being made in taking Jesus to the unreached in some of the toughest places in the world. In this episode, you'll hear about an exciting day that has been set aside to carry the banner for the cause of the unreached.

Wayne Pederson and Jon Fugler have a revealing conversation with Steve Johnson, who is spearheading the first-ever International Day for the Unreached. Sunday, May 15, has been set aside for this big day. You'll be hearing more about this day in coming weeks, but listen in to this first public announcement. Be challenged as you hear the conversation.

Jon and Wayne also bring in Beth Patton, who shares two powerful stories of God at work on two continents. Beth has been on our podcast before, and she has the inside track on stories from around the world.
